Moselle Bike Tour - short

Relax by moving - Clear your head and let your gaze wander over lush green vineyards while you reel off kilometre after kilometre on the Moselle cycle path. Discover Roman history in Trier, medieval history in Cochem and enjoy world-famous Moselle wines at local wineries before taking a look at the Deutsches Eck headland in the university town of Koblenz. The Moselle bike path offers well-developed paths and roads that are easy to cycle.

Day 1 Arrival in Trier
The Roman monuments of Augusta Treverorum are a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Porta Nigra, amphitheatre and the Roman bridge, across which cars are still allowed to drive.

Day 2 Trier - Trittenheim, approx. 40-45 km/25-28 mi
The Moselle cycle path follows the meanders of the river through steep vineyards and charming villages. Neumagen-Drohn rates as the oldest wine village in Germany.

Day 3 Trittenheim - Zell, approx. 60-65 km/37-40 mi
Today the cycle tour takes you through the worth seeing towns of Bernkastel and Traben-Trarbach. The vineyard "Schwarze Katz" in Zell also makes Moselle wines famous in the USA and Japan.

Day 4 Zell - Treis-Karden, approx. 52 km/32mi
Today you cycle below famous vineyards. Worth seeing are the half-timbered houses in Beilstein with Metternich Castle and, to round things off, Cochem with the Reichsburg and Endert Gate, which you will pass on yout way to Treis-Karden. A visit to the historic mustard mill in Cochem is also very interesting. Once you arrive at your destination, enjoy a wine tasting of 3 types of wine at the Schlosshotel Petry (included).

Day 5 Departure or extension
Your tour ends after breakfast. But why not extend your tour "Moselle Bike Path - short"?

• Comfortable unisex bikes available in different frame sizes with 21 gears/freewheel. Equipped with panniers on both sides, lock and repair kit. E-bikes available upon request.
• If you choose to wear a helmet, we recommend using your own due to the variety of head sizes and shapes and for hygienic reasons.

The booking process

Arrival to "Moselle Bike Path - short":

• Parking in Trier:
  Hotel parking subject to availability, costs approx. 12 €/day, details in the travel documents.

• Arrival by train to Trier:
  Trier central station

• Arrival at Frankfurt am Main airport:
  Distance to Trier approx. 200 km, excellent train connections, every hour, journey takes approx. 3,5 hours, 1-2 changes
  Train ticket price per person: approx. 50 €

• Booked rental bikes are waiting for you at the hotel.

Return transfer:

• Return by train (optional) :
  Free choice of train on local trains from 9.00 a.m.; no transfer to the station
  Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays all day

• Return transfer by train on your own steam:
  Good connections from Cochem train station, every half an hour, no changes, duration approx. 1 hours
  Train ticket price per person: approx. 19 €
   
• Return transfer personal bikes on thu, fr & sa:
  Return the bikes to the last stage hotel by 5.00 pm the day before at the latest - the bikes will be ready at the hotel in Trier from approx. 10 am the following day.
