Discover Franco-German history in Metz, Roman history in Trier and Cochem and enjoy world-famous Moselle wines at local wineries before taking a look at the Deutsches Eck headland in the university town of Koblenz. The Moselle bike path offers well-developed paths and roads that are easy to cycle.
Day 1 Arrival in Metz
The birthplace of the Carolingian dynasty looks back on an eventful Franco-German history. Visit picturesque squares, churches and city gates, while secular buildings such as the post office or train station are also well worth seeing.
Day 2 Metz - Perl, approx. 65 km /40 mi
You’ll cycle quickly to the Dreiländereck (three country triangle) via the French Thionville with its defiant belfry. The open-air museum Roman Villa Borg is worth seeing.
Day 3 Perl - Trier, approx. 50 km / 31 mi
Follow the border between Germany and Luxembourg through vineyards and past the mouth of the Saar in Konz. Trier is the oldest city in Germany.
Day 4 Trier - Bernkastel-Kues, approx. 70 km / 43 mi
Enjoy ever-changing views of the Moselle valley. The historic town centre of Bernkastel-Kues enchants visitors with colourful half-timbered houses and of course excellent Moselle wines.
Day 5 Bernkastel-Kues - Cochem, approx. 75 km / 47 mi
Today, you’ll once again cycle below famous vineyards. The half-timbered houses in Enkirch, Beilstein and Metternich Castle are worth seeing. To crown it all, Cochem with the Imperial Castle and the Enderttor Gate.
Day 6 Cochem - Koblenz, approx. 50 km / 31 mi
Take the chairlift to the Pinnerkreuz and take in the magnificent view before cycling to the university town of Koblenz. The Old Castle, the Electoral Palace and the cultural centre Forum Confluentes with the Mittelrhein Museum await you. The Ehrenbreitstein Fortress offers a great view of the city and the Deutsches Eck (German Corner), a headland where the Moselle joind the Rhine.
Day 7 Departure or extension
